Hey Fierce Ones,
It’s been a minute. I apologize for my absence. Some life changes have occurred, as they often do. I found myself out of work due to changes in my employer’s future. With that, I had to find a new direction.
I found myself struggling to decide which direction to go. Although I had a few decent options, I wanted to expand on my learning. I wanted to do something that would make a difference. My desire was to bring myself into a more marketable career space by expanding on my current knowledge.
When I first started my original blog, my mission was clear: to empower midlife women to navigate this incredible, often underestimated, phase of life with confidence. I wanted us all to have fierce energy. What I’ve learned is that being fierce today means more than just knowing who you are; it also means understanding the world around you and how it’s changing—fast.
And that, my friends, brings me to a confession and an exciting announcement:
I’ve gone back to school. Not for a new hobby (though I do love a good puzzle!), but for a deep dive into something that’s shaping our world more than anything else right now: Artificial Intelligence. Specifically App Development!
Why AI? And why for us?
You might be thinking, “AI? What does that have to do with my amazing, complex, often-full-of-laundry-and-hormones life?” And that’s exactly the question I’m here to answer.
While the media often paints AI as something scary, futuristic, or only for “tech bros,” I see it differently. I see AI as a tool. A powerful tool. And like any powerful tool, it’s only as good, as useful, and as empowering as the people who wield it—and the people it’s built for.
The truth is, AI is already impacting everything from how we shop and search, to how we work, learn, and even connect with our doctors. And here’s the kicker: if we, as midlife women, aren’t at the table building it, understanding it, and shaping its direction, then it won’t be built for us.
That’s why I’m not just using AI; I’m learning to build it. I’m deep in courses, wrestling with code, and frankly, having my mind blown every single day. My goal isn’t to turn you all into coders (unless you want to be!). My goal is to:
- Demystify AI: Cut through the hype and fear to explain what AI really is, how it works, and what it means for your life and career.
- Empower You to Use It: Show you practical ways AI can simplify your life, spark your creativity, and even advance your career, no matter your field.
- Ensure Our Voices Are Heard: Advocate for inclusive AI that understands the nuances and needs of our demographic. (This is where my Sociology studies come in – because tech without understanding people is just… tech.)
This isn’t just about robots; it’s about relevance, resilience, and reclaiming our power in a digital age. It’s about ensuring we are not just observers of the future, but active architects of it.
So, buckle up, Fierce Ones! The blog is back, and we’re diving into the future—together. I’ll be sharing my journey, and when I find an app, or begin to build one that is perfect for us midlife women – I will be sure to share it with you!
